As promised....

I have already added the pics of my second quilt, but I thought I would put them here. This quilt was finished in about a week I think. While I know the quilts aren't all that detailed I'm still getting my feet wet with this. I also am working on a sewing machine that is borrowed from a friend. While I am extremely grateful it has again decided not to work correctly. I was 2 rows away from finishing my next quilt top when it decided to do crazy things.

So while I contemplate what to do next, and try to get more followers and possibly grow my fabric stash I'm going to put up the second quilt.

I got the idea for this one from http://www.myquiltinfatuation.blogspot.com/ who has been very helpful and given me some pointers. My next quilt is actually another of her tutorials and I will post that once it is complete.

I know I'm new to this, so bear with me. If you want to comment, leave some helpful tips or anything I'm open to it all. And without further ado...here's my quilt that I finished around 10:30 PM on New Year's Eve. It's called Fields of Flowers and was a gift to my oldest niece. I bought fabric for her late December 2012 to make her a little pouch...that didn't happen. So I added that fabric to the back of the quilt for her. I got a great big hug for it!
Please keep in mind this is all made out of the cheap chain store fabric.....I don't have any of the nice fabrics yet...I'll get there.

And that is my daughter holding the quilt up for me. Being her normal cheesy self!

Hope you like!

  1. The colors are so bright and happy! I love it! congrats on your new blogging adventure as well!

If you really would like suggestions on the whole blog thing, I would advise making your text a little bit bigger to make it easier to read. You also might try breaking up your text and putting the pictures between paragraphs.

Thanks so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!

  2. Scrappy will always be my favorite. I like the purple, green and warm fabrics with it. It's a classy, fun quilt. It looks fluffy and cozy.

  3. You know what, quilting is quilting! Those women who quilted before awesome quilt stores used scraps of clothing. Just making one is a terrific achievement. Whenever I give a quilt to someone they say, "I'm going to hang this on the wall. It is too pretty to use!" They have no idea how ordinary it is, they just love it. You just keep going and growing. You'll learn along the way. That's my advice. I love that you started out "easy." I cannot believe what a difficult quilt I started with! I wish I'd had guidance to choose something easier to learn basic skills on.
